Drug life cycle: block of lectures No. 1

We are preparing a series of lectures for PřF students thanks to support from the IntegRECAMO project (OPVK CZ.1.07 / 2.3.00 / 20.0097)

The life cycle of a drug involves several phases. Before being used in routine practice, each newly discovered drug must undergo rigorous research and, above all, clinical trials. But even after the registration of the drug by the State Office for Drug Control and its marketing, everything does not end. It is necessary to determine the price of the medicinal product on the market and the possible amount of reimbursement from health insurance. In practice, the incidence of side effects and many other properties of the drug are then monitored. The first of the planned 3 blocks of lectures will be devoted to preclinical testing, thanks to which we will obtain key information about the active substance before its first administration to humans, and subsequently the individual phases of the clinical evaluation of drugs.

The next 2 blocks will take place on 15 April 2015 (Registration of medicinal products. Determination of the maximum amount of prices and conditions for reimbursement of medicinal products) and 29 April 2015 (Production of medicinal products. Advertising for medicinal products) and it is possible to register for them via of this site.
